It was so pink, and it was so perfect.
It was so pink, and it was so perfect.
The All Saints community awaited the arrival of its latest school musical with keen anticipation.
After half a year spent by the cast, crew and orchestra perfecting the delivery of lines, choreography, singing, set pieces, costuming and much, much more, Legally Blonde: The Musical exploded onto the Nairn Theatre stage in May 2023.
And what a show it was.
Not in the history of All Saints can we recall a show so utterly pink; filled with joy and hilarity, leaving audiences everywhere bending, snapping, and tossing out their tangerine tube tops.
Principal Cast members Isabelle Arthur in Year 12 (Elle Woods) and Jack Flanagan in Year 10 (Emmett Forrest) say that Legally Blonde was a special lesson in the power of positivity and a great glimpse into the world of professional theatre.
“Playing the role of Emmett was like a dream come true,” says Jack. “With musicals like these, you get to sit with the character and learn during multiple performances. You learn so much about yourself and have a chance to become ten times better by the end of it all.”
“Being a senior in this musical has made it especially great, because you learn to take it all in a bit more,” adds Isabelle.
Director Chantelle Flint says it was wonderful to once again see how the All Saints community rallied around the show, bringing joy to each performance, singing practice, tech run, late afternoon rehearsal and difficult choreography session.
“This is a very special community that supports the performing arts, led by Mr Wallas and supported by our wonderful staff, parents, Friends of Performing Arts, alumni and of course the students themselves – it really is a terrific and exciting thing to see,” says Mrs Flint.
“Every All Saints musical has it’s particular flavour, and every show has wonderful memories which remain in my heart forever, and the hearts of the students.”
“It’s amazing how just a couple of hours of joy on stage can extend beyond the theatre for so many people – they take the experience away and feel uplifted."
